A Goose Step of A Different Color
This piece exposes the existent ideological relationship between "free" America and totalitarian North Korea. Although the two societies are thought to occupy opposite ends of the political spectrum, they share an "impossible relationship", the result and aim being the militarization of their respective societies. The work itself was generated entirely from found footage appropriated from YouTube and Vimeo. On the left is footage taken from a commercial for a military inspired video game. On the right is footage released by N.Korea while the audio and animated footage was harvested from a 1940's American propaganda cartoon.
